Curatorial Statement

The essence of my practice lies in expressing my ego through paintings that represent my body as a collection of objects viewed from familiar perspectives. These perspectives are crucial in my work, creating self-portraits from my diet view, inviting viewers to feel as though they are observing their own bodies. By subtly integrating various perspectives rather than relying on a single viewpoint, the result becomes slightly uncanny. The intentional reconstruction of my body as an object, rather than a self-image, questions the distance between the artist and the created image. Skin and texture are pivotal in my paintings. By transforming the canvas into a metaphorical skin, I emphasize the intimacy between myself and my works. This technique underscores the physical and emotional closeness, merging the between the artist and the artwork. Nurturing something provides an experience vastly different from merely knowing it. Lately, while caring for my plants, I have felt myself developing a deep connection with them. Closely observing the surface of the plant is an essential part of its care. Just as I intently observe my own skin, observing the plants has become a daily routine, and the more time and effort I invest in them, the more I feel compelled to reproduce their surfaces on canvas to understand the essence of these emotions. Plants possess unique characteristics. They grow, change, and respond to their environment in ways both subtle and profound. This dynamic nature parallels my own exploration of the self and the body. The texture, patterns, and resilience found on the plant surfaces reflect the complexity of human skin and emotion. By integrating these elements into my work, I sought to capture the transient beauty and vulnerability of life. Historically, the female body, with its curves and forms, often mirrors the landscape in art, sometimes symbolizing nature itself. I use the metaphor of my own body as a landscape to express the parallels between the organic forms of nature and the human form. Through this exploration, I emphasize the interconnectedness of life and the delicate balance between the self, nature, and the environment. Through my paitings, I seek to convey the interconnectedness of all living things and the delicate balance between self and surroundings. The organic growth and transformation of plant, alongside the depiction of the female body as a landscape, mirror my own journey of self-discovery and artistic expression. Each piece stands as a testament to the intimate bond between nature and humanity.
