This upcoming solo exhibition showcases Kim's attempts to connect ‘me, things, materials, and the world’ through narratives intertwined with signs or symbols. Due to its inherent trait, contemporary painting faces stiff resistance and a narrowing of its position through the deluge of machine-generated spectacles such as AI generation and automation. Under these circumstances, the artist continues to experiment with a variety of sustainable painting practices. Although signs are starting points of painting, Kim explores new possibilities by paying attention to non-pictorial symbols.
